Unable to uninstall java 6
At least then my kids would be dealing with all my computer issues LOL!! I'm humbled by folks experience with computers regardless of their age. If only I lived in a neighborhood with some kids None of my local libraries according to them, roll eyes have a computer club that meets there, or I'd bring this laptop right over!
I'm sure a computer knowledgable person over 8 yrs old could help me on the spot with them at the keyboard! I do have 20 odd folders on my Desktop. The JavaRa was saved as a Zip file to my desktop. I'm a female senior citizen who started learning most of this when I was well into my 40's!
For the java setup error, this old thread on Wilders might be what you need to do. Maybe the problem is that you do not have an "unzipper" so of course JavaRA will not do a thing until it is unzipped. XP includes an unzipper but Vista does not.
I'm not sure what the correct word is. If you aren't sure, right click and write down the choices, then ask here so we can tell you which one to pick. Since I can't edit, I'll amend my previous statement. I have no idea if this has been fixed with any updates or service packs. Can anyone running Vista confirm that the unzipper works okay now? Do make sure when you are trying to uninstall Java that you have all applications closed and that means Internet Explorer, Firefox etc anything that may use Java.
DavidGP , May 27, Halo, Thank you also and Sikvik too for your encouraging patience to assist me with finding out how to upgrade my Java and remove the older version. I am not opposed to meeting someone at my home or local library that is a member here on the Forum for 'hands on help'. I'm near Red Bank NJ, so if anyone here is near there and would like to fiddle,uh, I mean, figure this out!
By all means PM me and we can work out a meetup for this laptop. This is why I am taking each post and following them to the letter until I no longer feel comfortable doing the process. Still no luck removing the Java6 update 7 from my computer with JavaRA. Most everyone assumes I'm a guy which rarely bothers me until they address me as dude!
You have unzipped JavaRA. When you double-click on JavaRa. If you are still having a problem with this, using the below would be worth a quick try: Revo Uninstaller If the above does not help, run MGtools per the below and attach the requested MGlogs. DavidGP , May 29, Do as Chaslang suggested and attach the MGlog. That way we can see where it is an uninstall it that way.

Then I made sure I ran CCleaner to remove any other mess and I uninstalled the particular application that was using Java. I've run into the same situation before. I used RevoUninstaller to remove all traces of Java and then I was able to reinstall it normally.
Or JavaRa might work too. CC Cleaner is normally good enough to remove stubborn programs if not i also recommend the Revo i have used that and its worked for me before. What if you tried to run Secunia PSI so that it detects the out of date Java and it may update the software automatically for you. I've never heard of Revo but I sure am glad I read about it here To continue this discussion, please ask a new question.
