2012 chevy camaro 45th anniversary special edition
The first time we experienced a major oil shock—the Disco-fabulous s—it eviscerated the muscle-car scene, leaving us with neutered behemoths constructed with all the care of a North Korean knock-off Benz. And now Chevy is actually increasing the standard horsepower in its base V-6 Camaro, from to , while maintaining a mpg highway rating.
For the hard-core Camaro community, though, the bigger news is the 45th Anniversary Edition Camaro. While a 45th birthday is less noteworthy than a 50th, who wants to wait another five years? By then, the Camaro will probably be a wheatgrass-electric hybrid. Inside, the package splatters 45th Anniversary logos all over the place—seats, dash, instrument panel, steering wheel, sill plates—and trims the seats, steering wheel, shift boot, armrests, and center console in red, white, and blue contrast stitching.
Disappointingly—but not surprisingly—it offers no performance upgrades. It should, however, look very sharp at the local Sunday-morning car club, alongside owners clad in Camaro hats, T-shirts, and windbreakers, clutching Camaro key chains and Camaro thermoses. The Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition and Camaro will receive a few exterior upgrades to differentiate it from the previous model years.
For starters, a a new rear spoiler and the taillamps previously provided as an option on the RS appearance package will come standard. The Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition will be further distinguished from the rest of the line-up by a Carbon Flash Metallic exteior paint contrasted by a unique rally stripe, in red and silver.
It will also get a unique 45th Anniversary hood and deck stripes, badges located beneath the front fender emblems, new-design 20" wheels in dark silver, fog lamp and taillamp bezels finished in dark silver, RS-style taillamp lenses, a standard rear spoiler, HID headlamps, and body-color roof molding.
For the interior, the Camaro will get a revised instrument panel appearance, with new instrument graphics and trim, as well as a new steering wheel design and a power lift feature for the front passenger seat. As with the exterior, the interior of the 45th Anniversary Camaro will also get bonus goodies. Next to the current engine line-up, customers interested in the Camaro will also have the option of a new 3. Chevrolet has not revealed pricing for this special edition just yet, but for those interested, you can get a first look at the 45th Anniversary Special Edition at the Camaro5 Fest II on April 15, in Arizona.
The biggest competitor for the Camaro, even in , will remain the Ford Mustang. Aside from the special editions, the Mustang line-up includes plenty of models to choose from, starting with the standard Mustang V6 with its HP and the GT with HP. There is also the special Mustang Boss that delivers Hp. So, once again, the competition between the two models will be very tight. I congratulate Chevrolet for reaching 45 years in service. By the way, I like the color combination of the car and the optional engine.
The bad thing here is it only comes for a limited edition. Camaro 45th Edition has absolutely had a cool features. Yeah, I also like that one. But what I am really loving with this car is the way they did the interior.
Looks very clean, while being cool at the same time. The Chevrolet Camaro arrives this summer and will feature several enhancements including a revised instrument panel and an improved 3. It will deliver bhp, an increase of 11 bhp compared to the engine with no change in fuel economy. Chevrolet is also launching the 45th Anniversary Special Edition to commemorate Camaro's heritage and recent revival.
The 45th Anniversary package will be offered on Camaro's top two trim levels 2LT and 2SS for both coupe and convertible body styles.
The exterior has a unique rally stripe, in red and silver, that contrasts the Carbon Flash Metallic paint.
